About Big Spring Jam: Huntsville, Alabama’s Big Spring Jam is one of the largest music festivals in the Southeastern United States.  It is recognized by the Southeastern Tourism Association as one of the top ten September events in the Southeast.  Since its debut in 1993, Big Spring Jam has donated more than half a million dollars to area charities, health and human services agencies and arts and entertainment organizations.  Held annually in downtown Huntsville’s Big Spring International Park, the Jam is a major project of the not-for-profit Huntsville Heritage Foundation.

The Huntsville Botanical Garden will be a spectacular feast for the senses with tens of thousands of blooming tulips, daffodils, dogwoods, azaleas, and a breathtaking wildflower trail during the Spring Festival of flowers, April 2006. Educational and social events are scheduled throughout the month to celebrate renewal in the Garden. Spring Festival is presented by Redstone Village.

Festival highlights include:

  • Photography Competition (all month)
  • Photography Workshop by Tom & Pat Cory* (April 1). Learn the basics of nature photography.
  • Growing Social – Dogwoods & Daiquiris (April 6, 5pm-7pm). The first of a whole fun season of hip happy hours.
  • Flower Show presented by the Federated Garden Club of Huntsville (April 7 and 8). Gorgeous and artistic floral displays
  • Bonsai Show presented by the Living Art Bonsai Society (April 15 and 16). A fascinating display of mature trees in miniature.
  • Spring Plant Sale (April 20 – 23). The State’s largest sale with every blooming thing that grows in the Tennessee Valley!
  • The Woody Plant Auction (April 27) Place your bid for hard-to-find, new and unusual plants and shrubs.
  • “Festival of Fashion’ a fashion show and luncheon sponsored by Parisian Parkway Place to celebrate Administrative Professionals Day* (April 26)
  • Garden Chats (weekdays at Noon)

The Spring Festival of Flowers attracted over 26,000 visitors in 2005. Festival hours are 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Sundays. Admission is charged. A complete schedule of events is available online at www.hsvbg.org, or by calling 256.830.4447.
